International comics competition: The Algeri battle: telling in stripes a black and white story. The
chosen theme has been inspired by the famous Gillo Pontecorvo’s
movie, La battaglia di Algeri, telling an episod of the liberation
war leaded by Algerian National Liberation Front against Frech troups
in 1957. This episode is meant to be only a track to elaborate the more
general theme of the Resistence, and of all other Resistences belonging
to the past and to the present: starting from the historical resistences
of the national liberation fronts and arriving at the Seattle movements.
This theme can pass through all the contemporary survive strategies, continue resistence practices, different forms of political, economic, linguistic and cultural antagonism, which are becoming necessarily new identities. The competition’s main goal is to map, promote and reward all those comics authors prone to experiment with new reality themes.
